I’ve worked on many participatory arts projects in community and educational settings, facilitating workshops with adults, young people and children. My artforms include murals, drawing, painting, collage, model-making, photography, graphics and set design. Projects are long or short-term, and tailored to suit the group and context. Whatever the project, art can be used to explore an issue, to decorate a space, and most importantly, to encourage and develop people’s own creativity.

Heart of England Mencap, Warwick
'Our Life, Our Choice' book - an anthology of writing and artwork created with a group of adults who have learning disabilities. The book explores issues including respect, rights, and friendship, as well as ordinary thoughts on everyday life. It aims to help normalise disability amongst the wider community, by making the lives of people with disabilities more visible. I facilitated the sessions in which the work was created, and I compiled, edited, and designed the book, which incorporates stories, illustrations, poems, drawings and comics.
Heart of England Mencap,
Stratford Upon Avon
Artist Facilitator on a mural painting project with Mencap customers. Over a series of workshops, two groups produced eight individually painted panels, using exterior quality plywood. The paintings explore important personal themes such as homes and holidays, a love of gardens, things to be proud of including volunteering, and commemorating dear friends. The panels are on display in Mencap’s walled garden on the Alscot Estate, Warwickshire, and are designed to accompany planting and sensory development of the outdoor area for customers’ use.
Amber Summer Arts Project, Devon
Artist Facilitator for a two day intensive creative mural workshop with Amber Foundation. Amber supports young people to gain skills, motivation and confidence to progress towards independent living and employment. I worked with a group of young artists at Ashley Court residential centre in Devon, to paint panels to be displayed inside the centre. The paintings were designed to convey positive messages about the artists’ own personal journeys, and to pass on these messages to future users of the centre.
Education Garden Mural, Coventry
I worked with a group of young volunteers in Coventry to design and paint a mural in Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s Education Garden, at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve. The group researched local wildlife found on the Reserve, and included it in the mural, particularly butterflies and caterpillars. With Voluntary Action Coventry.
'Underwater' Mural, South London
A mural painted with adults with learning disabilities at a community and day centre in South London. As well as creating the painting, the group helped to design the mural, researched and drew fishes and underwater creatures from life, and helped to buy materials. With The Camden Society.
